Petra Solar To Host Job Fair This Friday, August 14
Green Jobs Being Filled at South Plainfield Manufacturing Site
Who:
Petra Solar is a leading provider of the innovative SunWave™ solar photovoltaic (PV) solutions for utilities that also provide smart grid capability and enhance distribution grid reliability. Last week the company, based in South Plainfield, NJ, entered into a $200 million contract with PSE&G to produce 200,000 SunWave™ intelligent PV solar systems to be installed on utility poles and street light poles throughout PSE&G's service area.
What:
A JOB FAIR is being held to recruit assemblers, technicians and supervisors to join the manufacturing team at Petra Solar. They will help create Petra Solar's SunWave™ systems that transform utility and street light poles into solar energy generators while at the same enabling smart grid communications and enhance the performance of the electric grid through Petra's "intelligent solar solution." Petra systems offer real-time smart grid communication and enhance electric distribution grid reliability through a host of capabilities.

Why:
Petra Solar will be tripling its workforce over the next year as it fulfills its contract to create smart PV systems for PSE&G and other utility customers. Petra's workforce numbered about 40 at the time of the contract signing July 29 and has been growing since. The current job fair will fill about 15 new jobs. Petra Solar will have filled more than 100 jobs within the next year.
